Government consultation on extending the Warm Home Discount to boats and caravans, please respond by Monday 24th March 2025

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is consulting on extending the Warm Home Discount in winter 2025-2026 to all people who are on means-tested benefits, including those with no direct relationship with an energy supplier such as people living on boats. At present the Government is only considering extending this to boaters on a residential mooring. Please respond to explain why the Government should extend this to all boat dwellers on means-tested benefits. Please say this should include all liveaboard boaters without a permanent mooring, and those who live on a ‘high use’ or non-residential mooring, whichever navigation authority, harbour or coastal area they moor in.
