CRT raises licence fees by 4%, with bigger surcharges on top

CRT has announced an increase of 4% in its boat licence fees from 1st April 2025. The surcharge on the licence fees of boats without a home mooring will escalate from 5% to 10% which makes the increase much greater for our community. We estimate that at the end of the escalation of the surcharge to 25%, with the effect of above inflation increases and compounding, by 2028 the licence fee for a boat without a home mooring will have risen by between 64% for a narrowboat and 130% for the biggest widebeams, taking the increased widebeam surcharge into account. If you think this is unjust, join the campaign against the surcharge! Contact stopboatlicencediscrimination@gmail.com or secretariat@bargee-traveller.org.uk or 0118 321 4128.
