The Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) is working with Morco in support of its on-going campaign to find and fix potentially dangerous models of its LPG water heaters that may leak gas causing fires or explosions.
Morco’s concerns are that appliance test-point screws may not have been correctly tightened at the time of commissioning or servicing, Morco has issued a safety alert and is offering free upgrades for the affected models. This issue may potentially lead to un-rectified water heaters leaking unburnt gas with the risk of fires or explosions with possible resulting burns and injuries.
The BSS has published a webpage and briefing for boat owners here https://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/stay-safe-advice/known-recalls-safety-alerts/
and urges owners of the likely affected water heaters to read the Morco safety upgrade campaign webpage here https://morcoproducts.co.uk/water-heater-safety-upgrade/
The BSS webpage also advises boat owners how this issue may affect any upcoming BSS Examination.
