For members on Canal & River Trust (CRT) waterways, CRT is holding its Annual Public Meeting online on Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 12 noon. You can submit questions to CRT Chair David Orr and Chief Executive Richard Parry by emailing annualpublicmeeting@canalrivertrust.org.uk
See https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/about-us/annual-report-and-accounts/annual-public-meeting-2023#
to take part in the meeting.
NBTA members may wish to question the Chair and Chief Executive about the flimsy evidence used by CRT to justify its dicsriminatory licence fee surcharge on boats without a home mooring; or challenge the increasing micro-management of the cruising patterns of Bargee Travellers by imposing more and more 6-month licences on boaters, even those who have been travelling in line with both section 17 (3)(c)(ii) of the British Waterways Act 1995 and with CRT’s unlawful extra requirements; or ask about the continuing imposition of the so-called ‘safety’ no mooring zones on the River Lea, despite a risk assessment for the NBTA demonstrating that these no mooring areas are unnecessary.
